Education and the Constitution

The Founders believed a well-educated people were a key component in the preservation of free government, yet they gave no power over education to the federal government in the Constitution. Why? Today, the federal government is quite involved in the operation of state-run public education; how did that happen?  Finally, for those concerned about the effect of progressive education on American society, there is much to be concerned about.  What can be done? Come prepared to learn and discuss.
